[Tempest ~FNG~ (WIP)]

Good... for a WIP.

Nice melodic dubstep, if this was intended to be really filthy, you have failed completely. If you want to get filthy dubstep synths with massive, look up YAYA bass tutorial on youtube. I don't mind long intros, as long as the song itself is long too. With this song, this was not the case, and it ended abruptly. Basically, it SHOULD go, intro, drop, bridge, buildup, drop, outro, while this song was just intro, drop. As a trance or electronica song, this was good. As a dubstep piece.. not so much. Also, use LFOs to automate wave tables, and mess around with massive. Make your synths complicated, and if it sounds like crap, try again. You'll find funky stuff. Good luck.

Quite solid.

I like the synth strings at the beginning, they work with the buildup of the piece very well. I also like the dynamic hi-hat with the build up. Really makes it flow. The rhythm of the detuned lead fits really well with the string synth and drums at the first drop. The further buildup to the second drop with the snare works well with the sort of treble-heavy vibe of this piece, or at least of the demo so far. A bass drop wouldn't be bad. Much better then it would have been with bass drum buildup. The sidechaining is perfect, and the reverb/release of the lead at both drops is great. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about this track. I really hope the finished version is good :D.

I agree with you that it definitely lacks something in the lower frequency section, because other than the kick there's not much going on down there. I'm trying to find a suitable baseline to cover that to make it sound richer and fuller though I think something simple would already suffice but we'll see what I can do there. A base roll in addition to the snare to make it more powerfull is a excellent idea, thank you for that.

Unfortunately I don't have much time at my hands atm =( but stay tuned I hope for it to be finished in the course of the next week =)

[Piece for Chord Organ and]

Simple.

Dissonant chords are chords that contain Major 2nds, or the equivalent of such, OR Major 7ths, or the equivalent of such. This piece is pretty basic, but I really like it and I'm not quite sure why, lol. It's calming. And simple. I would give you advice on the drumming, but the simplicity works with the piece. There are some points where you're off time, and that just gets better with practice, if you decide to practice. It DOES sound like you're playing very lightly on the drums though. It would sound better if you played louder and just mixed it quieter. Unless of course, you for some reason couldn't mix this. Good job.

Thanks for the review! I was listening to a click track while recording this, and I struggled at times to keep in time with it (probably because the piece is so slow). I didn't feel like I was holding back while drumming, though listening to it it doesn't sound like I was playing very hard.

Weird.. needs improvement.

At the beginning I thought there was going to be more besides oddly-timed percussion. I was wrong. Basically, add synths, get some drum packs, and make more stuff. You'll get better.

Alright... all the crap that's panned to the right makes it sounds kinda weird, I don't quite like it. It's kind of the same melody over and over and over again with no variation, the only drum is a snare and it sounds kind of silly like that so what I'D say is... Add more drums, pan everything to the center, and, well, add more parts to the song. That's kind of it.

Yeah, everything is panned even so i don't see how there to the right for you.
It's still a work in progress so there is still stuff that isn't there yet that will be in the full version, I just wanted to know what people thought so far. Thanks for the insight though, I figure it'd sound a little odd with just the basses and snares though my friend insisted that it sounded good the way it was. Once again, thanks for the review and take it easy.

Wow, I was just going around looking at songs in audio. I clicked on this, and it was Ragezero! I have you subbed on youtube. I like this. The singing is kind of off, and it's a wee bit hard to hear, but the background stuff is good. The singing at the intro is almost impossible to hear, but after the intro it clears up a bit.

Most certainly a coincidence eh ^^ Yes I mostly post my own tracks on NG, and my remixes on YT. I have had quite some problems with adjusting the audio to this one. I mixed it on my headphones, which have a better sounds that my speakers. Therefor the stereo on speakers is a slight bit messed up. Thanks for the comment, I will keep practising and make better tracks!

Professional, unique.

The buildup at the beginning was quite original, not the normal 'bass drum getting faster' thing. I like it. The first drop is REALLY heavy, I like it. All the bitcrushed stuff after the first drop adds a really nice texture to the whole thing. The droney pad stuff at 1:40 is pretty neat, too. Second drop is just as good as the first, the outro's really airy, I like that. The whole thing was very tightly-mixed and professional sounding. Love it.

Thanks! I listen to a lot of Skrillex, so I tried to get similar sounding bass, explaining the heaviness of the drops. With the bitcrushed bass, I was going use in another song instead, but it's too hard to keep finding material, so I somewhat merged the two songs together.

Great!

I REALLY like the lead synth. Makes the buildup sound better. The melody is great, the building synths in the background are great, the only thing bad about this piece is the audio quality. There's quite a lot of clipping, I suggest a limiter next time you make a track. Frequently I see electronic artists taking one melody and repeating it for 5+ minutes and it's just repetitive and boring. You however, kept it short, and therefore not-annoying. All in all, a really solid track. Keep it up.

Haha, wow thanks alot! Yea I'm still somewhat new to FL Studio. I still dunno how to setup some effects. Looks like I gotta experiment a little more ;) But thanks alot for the review. In the future Ill make sure to make the quality better.

[Unbound Soul]

Very nice.

The picking at 0:34 was great. In my opinion, too much soloing and not enough just plain riffing. The riffs were great though. I love the chorus ^-^ Piano solo was well written and could've been longer or have mixed in with the guitar. Drums are simple but it fits the piece. All the sweep picking throughout is really steady, this must've taken a lot of takes. More buildup in the intro would've been great, I still love it though. Smooth outro with cymbals was quite fitting. I'm definitely buying this song on rock band network, this sounds like something i'd really like to play. I'm not sure if pro guitar works like this (the link doesn't work btw.) But if I buy this will I be able to play it on pro?

TL;DR: very smooth piece, well constructed, more piano would be neat, more buildup in the intro, sounds fun to play, pro guitar?

I appreciate your opinion, although to me saying it's too much soloing and too little riffing, is like calling a tune too much riffing with too little soloing. And we all know most tunes are based on riffing mostly. So .. can't say I agree :). The other things I wont get into as those are detailed composer decisions that differ from person to person. And yes, It's created as pro guitar in Rock Band Thanks for tuning in man!
